Evaluation + Final Video

This post is going to be a quick lil’ evaluation of myself regarding this class.
What have I learned?
The biggest thing that I have learned was that creating movies and editing in general takes A LOT OF TIME AND PATIENCE; I certainly have a newfound respect for those who do it. I also learned a little bit about what makes good writing and what makes bad writing... I have even started to criticize movies and shows more harshly, I have noticed.
What would I like to learn?
I would like to learn more about the foundations of writing, and more about what makes a good and bad piece. I have a passion for writing (poetry and little things like that), so I feel like I would be able to improve a great deal between this professor and the practice in general. This an interest of mine that I have had for a while, so it'd be nice to delve into it a bit more.
Overall?
Overall, I actually LOVED this class. I originally took it to fulfill a requirement, but it soon became my favorite class. I enjoyed the casual atmosphere and the positive vibes. I never felt pressured or uncomfortable, yet I was actually having a good time. The subject matter was always interesting and I enjoyed my classmates, whom were all respectively different. Gonna miss you guys :(

Free Write for Video Final

Word Count: 940

For my blog post, I am going to free write about several different topics surrounding love and relationships.
First, I want to begin by talking about this “crazy ex” label that we so freely give to people – women specifically. What makes a crazy person, anyway? Why do we only label women as crazy, and rarely label men the same? Why do we never talk about the actions and aspects around the craziness? These are the types of questions I ask myself all the time when my peers and associates are oh so quick to call or deem someone crazy.
When I think of “crazy,” I think of two scenarios… I either think about those who are (harshly) referred to such due to mental illness or I think about women burning up their ex’s cars or clothes. As much as I pride myself on being a feminist, a man is not the first thing that comes to mind when I think about “crazy.” DON’T GET ME WRONG THOUGH, I am quick to call a man crazy when he is being crazy.
The next thing I want to talk about for my free writing is talking about the “perfect” mate, and the qualities that he or she would have in order for me specifically to consider them perfect. Take everything I say with a grain of salt because I am extremely picky lol.
My perfect mate could be either a woman or a man, because I am bisexual. The lists I would make for each would be different so for the sake of argument, let’s say we are talking about the perfect boyfriend.. For starters, my perfect boyfriend would be someone who is patient and understanding. I find that I am a complicated human being, and that nothing in a relationship can work unless my significant other is capable of stopping to listen and empathize. In addition to that, I would need for my lover boy to be extremely loyal, honest, and respectful – these are the top three traits for me in any relationship or friendship that I have. Other than that, I would need for him to be ambitious and OPEN minded; I hate when people are not willing to think outside of the box or dive into other ways of expression or living. My ideal, perfect mate would be creative (because I am not), caring, and extremely intelligent; intelligence is extremely attractive. I would need for my significant other to be able to handle my attitude too though; he can’t be a push over. Ideally, I would want someone who stands up for themselves and knows I am a lot to handle, but treats me like a princess anyway. Similar to how I would want him to be incredibly intelligent, I would want him to think independently and not fall into what society says or thinks. He has to be a feminist, and he has to support and understand the premise of the Black Lives Matter movement. I would like for him to be tall (mainly so that he can reach the things on the top shelf that I can never seem to reach without a chair), with a nice white smile. He would definitely have to edgy and like going out and exploring because I like adventure. But, he would also need to be able to just stay home some nights and chill. Essentially, I want this person to be my best friend and we need to have a mutually beneficial relationship. He would have to be able to motivate me an encourage me to be my best self (even if not verbally), and vice versa. We would push each other to challenge our beliefs and thoughts, while maintaining a fun relationship with an incomparable bond. Lastly, I get bored easily, so we can’t fall into routine.
Honestly, I can go on forever about what I would like in my ideal person. It’s to the point where I have accepted my loveless fate, and have decided to be the best single Aunt ever haha.. but that’s neither here nor there. Next, I want to talk about some of the things that would make me crazy in a relationship – which I can also talk about for forever.
In a relationship, several things can drive me crazy, but let’s start with pet peeves. My biggest pet peeve of all time (both inside and outside of romantic relationships) is LYING!!!!!!
How I feel when people lie...

I hate lying. I barely even tolerate “little white lies.” I feel like as an adult, you should be able to stand by your truth and own up to your stuff. It makes me think so little of someone when they lie – whether it is to me or otherwise. Not to mention, any chances of me trusting your definitely go out the window if I ever catch you in a lie – even if the lie is small. If you feel the need to lie about the little stuff, who knows what you will do when the situation is more serious?!
Another huge pet peeve of mine is when people don’t answer my questions or when they ignore me. I HATE WHEN PEOPLE DO THESE THINGS! If I ask you something, I am not doing it for my own good.. I want to know whatever I am asking. So answer – it is truly that simple. However, people still find ways to not answer my question and it makes me a bit irrational. The same goes for being ignored; I do not handle that well.

I’ll stop there… but just know that we can all be that “crazy” ex in one way or another.

Thoughts of a "dedicated" lover...

Words: 507

I remember the sound of breathing. Our breathing was anything but in sync; it was unpatterned and unsteady.
I remember our eyes, widening with fiery hedonism and wild excitement. I loved his eyes. They were green with specs of grey and yellow. But not just any yellow - not all yellows are this beautiful and captivating. It was the yellow of sunflowers. The yellow you think of when you think of happiness or a stupid smiley face. Anyway... they were beautiful. He was beautiful.
I also remember his touch. It was almost as if my own skin got softer with each stroke. My day was made with just a graze. He had a way with me. Head over heels was certainly an understatement. I was on cloud 9 just from the smell of him.
I loved the way he smelled - and that’s another thing! He was always so clean and so neat. That’s probably a weird thing to get excited about, but I can honestly go days about the little things that make my Sebastian my soul mate - even if he doesn't necessarily agree. Sebastian is a great guy! He is concerned and very trustworthy. Not to mention, I could look at him forever.
He feels like we are incompatible but I personally think its just that we haven't been together long enough! We started dating about a year and a half ago when we came into Rutgers together. I had never heard of the town he was from, but he had a few friends in my hometown and we bonded through that. We started to hang out every now and then, and we really clicked! We did a lot of activities together and went out together. I even found his friends and introduced myself; they really liked me. He met my friends and family, and everything was great!
We were together for about eight months before he started to act out and say weird stuff like “I don’t want to do this anymore.” I thought obviously he just needed some time to adjust to school and having a new girlfriend. After all, he had never had a girlfriend as caring and fun as me. I opted to just ignore his moments and give him the benefit of the doubt because like I said, we were and are soulmates for eternity.
We stayed together, as I exercised my patience, for exactly another 37 days before he called himself “ending the relationship” – still unsure what that was supposed to mean. Now, we are at a weird place in our relationship because he is really hard to find sometimes and his phone got cut off. When I do see him, he is always running off to class or work. I didn’t even know his phone was shut off until I called his mom and she told me! Love sure is hard – its work! But when you love someone as much as I love Sebastian and he loves me, the complicatedness of it all is definitely worth it.

Till next time,
Tracy

Video Ideas

Words: 783
One of the critical assignments for this class is creating a video project. This blog post will be me free writing – mostly rambling – about my ideas for said project.

For my video project, I don’t want to do anything typical or anticipated. I don’t want to do anything that involves a love foundation or anything like that, because A) my podcast was about a love triangle and B) that angle is kind of played out. I would like to do something scary or an action packed, but because it’s a video project and not just a script, I doubt that I would be able to do that. I feel as though action would be extremely hard and challenging because I would not be able to properly do the extra effects that would make the project amazing. What is action without special effects and elaborative stunts? Nothing.. it is nothing. Attempting a scary movie would be the same.. there would be no real special effects or extravagant costumes in my video so I also can’t really go that route either. I was thinking about doing comedy (because I can’t really do the first two), but comedy is also hard because you have to actually be funny. I am funny in the sarcastic way, not the joke/script writing way. Ya know? All of this leaves me with a drama filled video and plot… which is not horrible but ya know.. its not what I’m passionate about at the moment.
As you can tell, I have no clue what I am going to do for my video nor do I know what I am going to say for the rest of this post BUT lets hope some productivity comes from this. By process of elimination, I have narrowed it down to either a video about drama, like I said, or an ironic movie that will end with “to be continued..”
I like the idea of doing a short ironic film, so I think I am going to create one centered around some type of deception or mind-boggling situation. Perhaps I can make a video about a college volleyball player who is struggling with her gender identity or a video about a crazy ex going through various schemes to get her lover back?
If I were to create the video about the college volleyball player, I would play that part (and I think I would do so perfectly, might I add). I would make the setting Rutgers, because that is easiest, and it would be realistic because it is an issue that is becoming more and more talked about. I would make the opening scene the main character playing volleyball during an important game or during practice with the team. Then I would change the setting to the locker room so she could talk more privately with her close friend, who is also a team player. This is where the audience would get a real feeling of who the character is and her personality. At some point, I would also show text conversations on the phone – which would give viewers an inside view of what is going on in the main character’s life. I would like to end the video with some kind of conclusion, but a bit of a cliff hanger at the same time. I think it’d be good actually, the longer I free write about this topic; the viewers would be interested throughout hopefully.
The other thing I mentioned possibly writing about/making a video about was the crazy ex scenario. I know I said that I didn’t want to base the project on love, but the video I create using this scenario would more so be about the crazy extents that this girl goes to for her ex’s attention, rather than focusing on the relationship and her love for him itself. The story would begin right after the ex-boyfriend realized his ex did something else crazy … again. For example, say she slashed his tires because she found out he went on a date or something. The opening scene would be him walking up to his car and then loudly expressing his discontent and surprise.

He’d then call her to start yelling at her and maybe even kick the tire on the driver’s front side. She would respond laughing initially, and then say something along the lines of “Well that’s what you get for going on a shitty date with that close-eyed thing last Wednesday!” or maybe, “You want me to call you an uber?” In this situation, the ex would be fully knowledgeable about how crazy his ex-girlfriend is, so he wouldn’t be that surprised necessarily. That sounds good too.. I don’t know.
